Wicked is the prequel to the Wizard of Oz and is told from the perspective of the witches of the Land of Oz. It starts before Dorothy’s arrival from Kansas to Oz and continues after she leaves. Wicked has become the 11th longest running show in Broadway history, and has widely received positive reviews from critics over the years. The musical has won over 32 awards and accolades over the years which include 4 Tony Awards as well as a Grammy Award.

Good news for the fans of this famous musical as Wicked returns to Toronto’s Ed Mirvish Theatre. Wicked has had a good run in the city. The production broke box office records for the highest grossing theatrical production in 2004 and repeated this feat when it came back in 2006 and 2010. In the last weeks of the 2006 run, Wicked established a weekly record for top-grossing show in Toronto history, reaching $1,821,359. That record was broken in the 2010 run, when it grossed $1,986,319 in a single week. In December it became the first musical to garner $3 million in a week.
